Like everything else in life, there are laws. Basically, the more money people think you're likely to make, the more likely people are are going to complain about something.

Things to get confused and confounded by include: Editorial vs. commercial use, model releases, trademarks, underlying copyrights and derivative works, exclusive vs. non-exclusive use, and fair use. It's all fun stuff!
