Adobe has officially launched Photoshop Touch for the iPad 2 and Android-powered tablets. Now you can touch-up your photos on-the-go.

“The new Adobe® Photoshop® Touch app lets you quickly combine images, apply professional effects, share the results with friends and family through social networking sites like Facebook, and more — all from the convenience of your iPad or Android tablet.”

“Photoshop Touch is just a v1 app — a first step on what we hope is a long and interesting road — but we think you’ll find it pretty capable.”

Why an iPad 2? And why 1600x1600 max image size?

“The iPad 2 has twice the RAM, twice the processing cores, and ~5x the graphics grunt of the iPad 1. PS Touch brings some seriously powerful algorithms (e.g. Refine Edge) from the desktop to mobile, and we wanted to ensure a good match between hardware and image size. The app is geared more towards remixing photos and sharing them onscreen than towards print work; having said that, note that a 1600×1600 doc could be printed at 10.6″ × 10.6″ at 150dpi.”
