New Kindles coming July 31?

UPDATE (Aug 23, 2012): The new Kindles may be launched on September 6, 2012, according to All Things D.

A higher-resolution Kindle Fire may get launched by Amazon next month, according to CNet and DigiTimes. ZDNet says the announcement may come on July 31 with shipping on August 7. Several models may debut:

• Kindle Fire 2: For $199, a new 7-inch tablet with a higher resolution 1280 x 800 pixels and a camera.
• Kindle Fire 1: For a lower price of $149, the existing 7-inch Kindle Fire with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.
• Kindle Touch 2: a new ebook reader with a 6-inch display and integrated backlight.

A new 10.1-inch tablet is reportedly in development for an early 2013 launch.

Meanwhile, the new Google Nexus 7 is available for pre-order.
